Stay information
An idyllic cottage, bare feet damp with morning dew, and air you can’t find anywhere else. Air that smells of wet grass, wood, and the quiet dawn over the fields. In places like this, time moves more slowly, and ordinary things like a cup of coffee, a creaking floor, or light streaming through an old window become little miracles of everyday life. The Cieńsza Dom Artysty studio is just such a place. A bit like a fairy tale, a bit like old-fashioned vacations at Grandma and Grandpa’s, where every day begins with tranquility and ends with conversation by the campfire. The Cieńsza Studio is located in the small village of Cieńsza in Mazovia, in the Kurpie Białe region, surrounded by forests, fields, and the tranquility of the countryside. It’s about an hour’s drive from Warsaw and just over an hour from Ostrołęka—close enough to reach easily, yet far enough to truly unwind. The area invites you to enjoy simple pleasures: bike rides through meadows, walks along forest paths, and long, lazy afternoons by the Narew River. Nearby, you can explore the region’s history and culture—visit museums in Pułtusk or Ostrołęka, pop into small galleries and artisans’ workshops, or simply lose yourself in the Kurpie landscape, where nature still sets the rhythm of life.
The Artist’s House is a remarkable, over 140-year-old Kurpie cottage that was moved here from a neighboring village and expanded over the years by the painter Henryk Musiałowicz. The artist established his studio here, and over time, the entire house became a living work of art, complete with a tower, a gallery, and nooks and crannies that each have their own story. Today, it is a space open to guests seeking peace, nature, and inspiration. The house can accommodate up to 10 people and consists of four cozy double and triple bedrooms, a large living room with a fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, two bathrooms, and a spacious workshop area of approximately 50 m². In the garden, you’ll find wooden tables, lounge chairs, a fire pit, and a grill, while the surrounding green space is perfect for morning yoga, sketching, or a long conversation over tea.
This place is designed for those who want to spend time together—families, friends, or simply a group of like-minded people. Here, you can cook dinner together, order breakfast baskets filled with local products, light the fireplace on a chilly evening, or spend the day engaging in creative activities. The energy of art is ever-present in the house: easels, books, old objects, and traces of paint remind us that paintings and sculptures were once created here. It’s no wonder that painting retreats, craft workshops, and creative gatherings are held here—this space naturally inspires creativity.
The Cieńsza Studio also features a gallery, of course, where you can not only view the spatial works and sculptures created here by Henryk Musiałowicz, but also relax—sit on the sofas, listen to music, or work out in the specially designated room. Can you imagine doing yoga surrounded by art? It’s a unique experience. However, what makes the Artist’s House so special isn’t just its history. It’s more about the atmosphere—something hard to put into words. A silence that isn’t emptiness, but tranquility. Light dancing across the wooden floor. A garden where, in the evening, all you can hear is the wind and the laughter of people sitting around the campfire. Here, you can truly slow down and remember how good it feels to simply be here and now.So if you’re dreaming of a place where art meets nature and simplicity becomes a luxury, the Artist’s House at Pracownia Cieńsza is waiting for you. Come on over, take off your shoes, walk on the grass, and let this peaceful corner of the world become your place on Earth for a while.

Jola and Marta. Mother and daughter. An interior designer and a journalist. Together, we decided to breathe new life into the place that our father and grandfather, Henryk Musiałowicz, first discovered and fell in love with. Cieńsza became the center of his world—it was where he lived and created. We decided to give it a new life. That is how Pracownia Cieńsza came to be—a place unlike any other, because only here can one commune so closely with both nature and art at the same time.
